It was the start of 2020 when a local non profit that helps people with special needs started using our campus as a hub. It was 2 vans and one huddle room.
No one could have predicted what happened next with COVID and the really horrible situation for people dependent on services and care. But the program exploded. By the start of 2023 our vacant week-day classrooms were serving nearly 40 people in need most days, plus lots of caring staff. (it made for a loud building – and I made some friends.)
The building is a lot quieter now on week day mornings. – My special friends and staff
got a much better location and office in Middletown that fits their needs a lot better than a church basement. But seeing these folks almost every day, and the generosity of our church and their staff reminds me to keep them in prayer.
